Intro

I’m about to do something I thought I would never do.

My name is Grace, and, as I am writing this, I’m currently a Junior in high school, but soon I’ll be a Senior.

That’s actually the whole point- my senior project. You can call it what you want, a passion project, a capstone, even a psychological experiment, but my mission stays the same: Complete and document every item on my bucket list before the end of my senior year. Sounds easy, you say?

Ha ha ha. I laugh.

This list has been specifically designed with the intention to make me uncomfortable. Like, really uncomfortable. I’m not going to have tarantulas crawl on my face or anything… (well, you’ll have to wait and see…) but the intent is to push me out of my comfort zone, which I have comfortably lived in for way too long.

I’ll be doing things I’m scared of, things I’ve always wanted to but never tried, things that absolutely make me cringe, and I’ll definitely be embarrassing myself a thousand times over, so STAY TUNED.

Maybe some entertainment can be made out of my terrible self-mockery. Jokes aside, I’m actually really excited for this. I have a lot of things planned, and I really think this will be so good for me, and help me to be more confident, self assured, and happy. That’s my hypothesis, at least.

Think of me as your own personal Guinea Pig. If doing all this crazy stuff works for me, then it probably works for you, and then Hey! We’ve cracked the code to a happy life! Whooo congrats!

Let’s be super clear about what I’m doing, I wouldn’t want anyone getting lost along the way.

Who: Me! Grace! Howdy, nice to meet you.
What: The Adventure Diaries- A bucket list challenge, where I must complete each item on the list before I graduate… or else.
When: Over the course of my time left in high school, and I’ll be posting weekly.
Where: Texas. That’s as specific as I’m going to be. You’ll know. I’ll be around.
Why: Great question. I’m trying to see if doing these uncomfortable and new things will somehow help me grow as a person. There’s some logic there, you’ll just have to trust me on that for now.

Okay, everyone on board? Great. We’re almost ready to start, but before we do, I need to take an oath, and you do too. Put one hand on your heart, and raise your other. I will as well.

(my oath)
I, Grace, promise to be 100% honest with you, and no matter the outcome, you’ll know about it, succeed or fail. I will never lie to you or fudge details to make myself seem better. This is an experiment, and I won’t mess with the data. We’re here to learn, grow, and love, not be fake. I will support you and be kind to you and everyone I meet, and be myself, no more, no less. 🙂

(your oath)
I, (say your name), promise that, as a reader, I am here to support, not to judge. This is a positive and welcoming environment, and I will do my best to be a part of it. I will listen and think about the stories I am being told by Grace, and reflect on how I can apply those lessons to my own life. If I don’t like something, I will leave, instead of spreading my negativity. 🙂

(optional oath)
I, (say your name again), will donate to Grace’s amazing inspirational project via GoFundMe, at https://gofund.me/70e0c72d. I am the biggest fan of this project and will do anything I can to support it.

Wow, amazing guys, thank you so much for doing that for me. It really means a lot. Now that we all took the oath, we can get started! You’ve all sworn in to Adventure Club 🙂

I’m so excited to be on this journey with you, it’s really going to be a crazy ride. You can follow my progress here, and on my youtube channel, where I share footage and talk about my experience with each task! I also have an instagram, where I post pictures and reels promoting my project, so please share with your friends!

Risking it all (for the plot), -Grace
